South Kasai is a province of the Belgian Congo. After the accession of the Belgian Congo to independence in 1960, South Kasai became an autonomous province and issued its own stamps in 1961 (some stamps were issued by overprinting stamps of the Belgian Congo).
In 1962, the province was reinstated in the Congolese Republic.
