Flag stamps

Sixteen flags a year, for at least ten years

The United Nations, publisher of an annual series

The New York office of the United Nations provides more than a third of the section's listings on its own. From 1980 to 1989 at least, it publishes each year a series of sixteen stamps devoted to flags, from no. 316/331 in 1980 to no. 547/562 in 1989. Several of these series also exist used (1981 to 1985), at a price below mint. The Geneva office joins in 2015, with an eight-value series also filed under coins (nos. 893/900).

The United States, four-value series

The United States returns almost every year: a single stamp in 2005 (no. 3680) and 2007 (no. 3976), two four-value series in 2008 (nos. 4020/4023 and 4024/4027), a series in 2012 (nos. 4465/4468) that also exists in an "e" version (nos. 4465e/4468e), then one in 2013 (nos. 4607/4610).

One flag, one country

Other administrations devote their issue to their own flag or to several: Croatia in 2006 (a ten-value series, nos. 717/726), Bhutan in 2010 (eight values), Sweden in 2011, Liechtenstein in 1998 and 2012, the United Arab Emirates in 2006 and 2014, Azerbaijan in 2015, Canada in 1989, Brazil in 1984, Mexico in 1985, Russia in 1996.

Flags, coats of arms, coins

The flag crosses with other symbols. Laos in 1984 files it with coats of arms, Venezuela in 1972 with coats of arms and music, the Comoros in 1976 with monuments, West Germany in 1989 with Europe, the Geneva United Nations in 2015 with coins. Venezuela, at about thirty euros, is one of the dearest pieces.

Prices from fifty cents to thirty euros

Most single stamps and short series sit between one and three euros, the sixteen-stamp UN series between five and ten euros mint, three to four euros used. All pieces are mint never hinged, unless the title says otherwise.
