Stamps featuring children's drawings

The line, not the hand that drew it

A technical criterion, not simply a childlike subject

The classification here isn't based on a specific theme but on a way of drawing: these are works created by children, whatever the subject depicted. This explains the variety of overlaps observed — Christmas, scouting, football, environment, space all come up at one point or another, depending on what subject the children chose to illustrate for the occasion.

Christmas, the most frequent occasion

Mexico published several series of this kind between 1984 and 1997, all doubly listed under "Christmas" and "children's drawings", as did Chile in 1986 and 1990, and Bermuda in 1998. This pairing is no small detail: asking children to illustrate the year-end holiday is a practice several postal administrations returned to regularly over nearly fifteen years.

Other, more occasional subjects

Scouting (Uruguay, 2007), football (Uruguay, 2005), space (Marshall Islands, 2014) and the environment (Chile, 1995) each appear only once in the collection observed, a sign that these themes remain exceptions rather than issuing habits. A 1997 Lithuanian series even adds a third layer of classification, belonging to literature, children's drawings and Europa all at once.

Yugoslavia and Romania, two regular Eastern European issuers

Between 1979 and 2005, both Romania and Yugoslavia returned to this theme several times, with three- or four-value series published at irregular intervals over more than two decades. This consistency, specific to a few Eastern European administrations, contrasts with most other countries in the collection, which touch on the subject only once or twice across their entire postal history.

Tight pricing, between €1 and €5

Unlike other art-related sections, price gaps stay limited here: most series trade between €1 and €4, whether from Pakistan, Thailand or Canada. Only a 2002 Yugoslav series clearly exceeds this range, at €5. The collection spans from 1965 to the most recent issues, with a clear concentration of releases between 1979 and 2000.
